Theo Calligeris, Rashaad Jakoet,Ian Meder and Lorenzo Meyer are qualified as FIFA F-Marc 11+ Instructors. This programme is developed by Fifa in conjunction with international experts as a specific warm-up and possible training programme to prevent injury overuse injuries in football (soccer).
Ajax Cape Town Football Club
A longstanding association between SSPC and Ajax Cape Town has been well established. We are very proud to be associated with the club, and the many successes they have achieved in the last few seasons.
Grucox Eccentric Rehabilitation and Performance Training
In cooperation with The Sports Science Orthopaedic Clinic, we have developed the Grucox eccentric rehabilitation concept. The application of a progressively increasing, high-force eccentric resistance has been shown to safely increase muscle size and strength in healthy and clinical populations.
Eccentric movement is defined as a lengthening of the muscle as it contracts under tension. This specific kind of muscle work creates greater ability of the muscle to control movement and produce force. It also increases the bodies ability to synthesise collagen (building blocks)and hence aid in structural responses. This is what is created by the Grucox Eccentric Device
(Grucox-E)
The Grucox Rehabilitation concept have been introduced with great success in the treatment of:
- Knee and Ankle ligament sprains
- Patella Femoral Pain Syndrome
- Patella-Tendonopathy (Runners knee)
- Achilles Tendinopathy
- Post-operative rehabilitation
- Lower limb biomechanical dysfunctions and weakness
- Improves strength
- Enhancing performance

Orthopaedics @ Life Healthcare Sports Science Orthopaedic Day Surgery Centre
The Sports Science Day Surgery Centre is one of only a handful of Day Surgery Centres in the country. Performing mainly arthroscopic and minimally invasive procedures, many renowned surgeons in Cape Town have joined the Sports Science Orthopaedic Team.
At the centre, admission, surgery and discharge all takes place on the same day. The SSPC has been involved from the inception of the Surgery Centre to provide quality health care and kickstart the initial phase of the rehabilitation. The immediate post-surgical care after any surgery is very important to promote good healing and a positive outcome for every individual.
